Different people may develop endometriosis for different reasons. What can be ascertained from current information and research is that endometriosis is not even close to being fully understood.

The beginning of the menstruation cycle: Some start the menstruation at an early age. Scientific facts have revealed that even a nine-year-old girl can begin the cycle. This is not a good sign the reason being that with each cycle, there is a build up on the wall of the uterus.

The exact cause of the disease is still a question that remains unanswered. However, certain theories have been developed which helps in understanding this problem.

The cells of the endometrium are meant to be shed every month with the menstrual period. This allows the lining of the uterus to remain fresh and ready for implantation of a fertilized egg, should you be trying to get pregnant.

Endometriosis and infertility is not a hopeless case. Do not fear that you could not have or bear any child anymore. Treatment and medication are always available.


One of the outside influences that scientists have studied is caffeine. What they have found that caffeine causes a rise in estrogen in nearly all women.

In endometriosis, tissue that looks and acts like endometrial tissue is found outside the uterus, usually inside the abdominal cavity. Endometrial tissue residing outside the uterus responds to the menstrual cycle in a way that is similar to the way endometrium usually responds in the uterus.

The exact cause of endometriosis is unknown. Risk factors can range from family history of endometriosis to smoking. Here are some situations seen as probable endometriosis causes, but studies are still inconclusive to fully back them up.

Both illnesses cause symptoms that include constipation, intestinal cramping, abdominal pain, painful bowel movements, diarrhea, alternating between diarrhea and constipation, vomiting and nausea, rectal bleeding and rectal pain as well.

The worst part of Endometriosis is that it has no or very mild symptoms which make it even harder for a patient to understand if she is suffering from it or not.


In such severe cases a large part of the bowel may have to be removed completely and the ends that are unaffected are attached. This may seem complicated but it is done laparoscopically by a colorectal surgeon or even a general surgeon.
